Henley Douglas RnB
Henley Douglas RnB – HDRnB is an original R&B/soul/groove band founded in late 2010. The band is led by Henley Douglas Jr. (sax) and features some of the most talented musicians on the North Shore… John Iltis (drums), Charlie O’Neal (guitar), Peter Fedele (guitar), Brandon Tarricone (guitar) Squantch (trombone) and David Walker (bass). When the band features Garret Savluk (trumpet) and Yahuba (percussion)… it’s a special show!
Henley Douglas Jr.’s early career includes stints with the Big Dig Saxophone Quartet and Skin, a Boston-based funk-rock outfit that would open for acts like the Neville Brothers and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. He founded the Heavy Metal Horns, a band that reached international acclaim in the 1990s, and for 10 years, fronted the Boston Horns, a funk/jazz band also featuring HMH alum Garret Savluk. Check out the HDRnB website.
Heavy Metal Horns
The Heavy Metal Horns came together in 1989 as the horn section for the Del Fuegos on their RCA release “Smoking in the Fields”. The following year the band was off and running… their self-titled debut album was dubbed one of the best releases by the Boston Phoenix. Soon after that they found themselves performing at international festivals across the continent and touring the world with Extreme. The band reunited in 2016 to perform at the closing of the legendary nightclub, Johnny D’s.
The original line up included Henley Douglas Jr. on tenor and baritone sax; John Vanderpool on tenor and alto sax; Garret Savluk on trumpet; John Ferry on trombone and vocals; Peter Calo on guitar and vocals; Pengbian Sang on bass; John Matthews on keys and vocals; Jim Strudevant on drums; Thaddeus Hogarth on vocals and Hudson Samuel on percussion.
Eric Reardon
Eric says he first picked up the instrument at age 9 with lessons from his dad. His early musical influences mirrored his fathers’…Stevie Ray Vaughn, the Allman Brothers and his personal favorite, Gov’t Mule. SOSS Founder, Henley Douglas Jr. says of Eric, “The thing about Eric is that he has something to say, and he can say it through his instrument and it is totally valid… It’s like learning how to carry on a conversation. He’s a great communicator.”
New England Blues legend James Montgomery says of Eric “…he certainly is way beyond I was at his age.” Of his guitar prowess, James notes, “What impresses me and my other band members about him is that he is a very inventive player, way beyond his years in terms of being able to just jam and go with it. His solos are seamless. He’s got really great ears, not only for someone his age, but for anyone.” Check out Eric’s first release “Eric Reardon” and you’ll understand why we’re proud to include his sound to that of SOSS Music!
