Heavy Metal Horns; HMH

Based in Boston, Heavy Metal Horns built a reputation in the 1990s as a powerhouse funk band and one of the era’s most distinctive horn sections. HMH toured extensively across the United States, appearing twice at the Montreal Jazz Festival, the San Jose International Jazz Festival, and legendary rooms including Tipitina’s in New Orleans and Antone’s in Austin, Texas.

In 1993, the Heavy Metal Horns horn section hit the international stage with Extreme, joining the band for its “Stop the World” world tour and bringing the HMH sound to audiences around the globe.

More than two decades later, the story picked up right where it left off. In 2016, legendary Somerville club Johnny D’s invited HMH back for a show celebrating the venue before it closed its doors. What was meant to be one special night reignited the band, launching a run of annual shows in Boston and on the North Shore over the next five years.

The next chapter arrived in 2024 with the release of “The Heavy Metal Horns Live From The Cut” — proof that the band’s signature mix of funk, soul, fire, and seriously big horns still hits as hard as ever.
